Good fundraising should be from one inflection point to another, always raising the right amount at the right time. This avoids "overdilution" (raising too much at the point when the valuation is too low) or a "down round" (raising the next round at a lower valuation) when raising at a valuation that was too high.

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) announced this week that global patent applications rose to 2.9 million in 2015, up 7.8% from 2014. The announcement was punctuated by the fact that the Chinese patent office received 1.1 million patent applications in 2015, making it the first national patent office to cross the one million application mark in a single year. This podcast will analyze the reasons for the accelerated patent filing in China, and what implications it has on IP enforcement in China, and on China’s relative position as an innovation leader. Efrat Kasznik
The speaker interviewed for the EU-Japan Technology Transfer Helpdesk by Luca Escoffier is Efrat Kasznik, President of Foresight Valuation Group in Silicon Valley and a Lecturer at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Efrat is a valuation expert, with over 20 years of experience in the valuation and commercialization of intellectual property and emerging technologies. She is a member of the leadership of the Licensing Executives Society, High Tech Sector, where she chairs the IOT committee. She has been listed on the IAM 300 list of Leading IP Strategists for 4 years in a row, and has been a frequent speaker in IP and business conferences. Throughout her career, Efrat has also been a co-founder and CFO of telecom and cleantech startups, and is currently an advisor to startups, incubators and investors in Silicon Valley, Europe and Israel.
